Home teaching

Please, tell me about the home teaching. That it? How does it take place?
That better for the Russian children: home teaching or public schools?
What experience do you have a? What did you prefer, bringing the children of school age from Russia and Ukraine?
What will you advise for my children?

I am not sure what the law is for you, Irina. In America, each state has its own laws.

I school at home and find it to be very good for us. I think for our Ukrainian children it has been the best thing. They spend all their time with our family and they are able to learn with all my attention. In school, they must share the Teacher's attention with the whole class.

I can not tell you what is best for you. I think it is the best way to share your own values with your children. But if you must work, or if they must go to school, it is still important to make sure that you are the one teaching them morals.

Did this answer your questions? Can you understand my writing? If not, ask me to make more sense!

I did not know you had a blog. If I have time, I will try and read it. It will be practice for my Russian. And I will use the internet translators.

I have homeschooled and now my children are all at school. I think that your youngest daughter will do great at school. She will learn English very quickly and catch up well. I do think it is smarter to put her a year or so behind the grade where she would ordinarily be in school, though (and tell her, truly) that she can move up once she has English fluently. Your older children might benefit from homeschooling, because, unfortunately, they will often place students who do not know English well in with students who are not doing well for other reasons (mental illness, drug use, just bad homes, etc.) That might be the easiest place to LEARN, but it is the WORST place for a child to make friends or have a positive social experience. I know a couple of older Russian children who have had VERY BAD experiences this way. Homeschoolers are usually Christians, and there are lots of social groups, music lessons and so forth where the children can make good friends. That is what I would do, especially with Natasha. Because she will need to learn English you might find another homeschooling mother who could work with her (maybe you could teach Russian to their child in exchange?) or a tutor so she/they can learn English well....there is nothing like just speaking it.

I understood, there are pluses and minuses of the home teaching. Thank you for answers :). I continue the study of this theme.
